Shigatse to Lhasa Drive

Today was spent driving from Shigatse back to Lhasa. The trip from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp in total is about thirteen hours, so the trip is broken up into two days. I listened to some audio books and music on the way back and, of course, took some pictures. I tried to capture some more of the scenery and the people that we've seen in Tibet. Once we returned, Aaron and I headed out for some last photos and souvenir shopping.

Typical Tibetan dress for a woman. A woman wearing an apron is married. An unmarried woman does not wear an apron:

These men were selling mushrooms and cheese along the Yarlung River:

I was asked by the girls below to take a picture with them. This happens from time to time here. We definitely stand out in this crowd by our size and the color of our skin. I’ve seen maybe a dozen non-Asian people the whole time we’ve been in Tibet. It was also surprising to read that only 7,000 foreign visitors visit Mt. Everest each year. I would have thought that number would have been higher.

We ate dinner at the hotel (a frustrating experience due to some communication problems, but we did get fed) and packed for the flight to Beijing. We are shifting to Olympics mode!
