RDU to London

5.24.09 – We’re at the new terminal at Raleigh Durham airport waiting to board American Airlines 174 to London’s Heathrow airport. The new terminal is modern but designed in a way that is still warm and graceful. Check-in was the fastest, smoothest one we’ve ever had, domestic or international. At the gate, the mood is relaxed. It's very different than most international flights I’ve flown. Everyone is calm and not in a big hurry. After thinking about it, my guess is that it’s just the southern, relaxed atmosphere you find in most things here. It’s a nice change.

The flight is only about three-quarter full, another nice plus. Teresa is in 13A with two seats to herself. I settle in to the last exit row seat available at 21B. We’ll both sleep better on the way to London. It’s time to sleep as much as we can to get ready for the six hour time difference from our home.
